Cinder – Core Barreled Actions

The Preferred Rifles Cinder – Core brings the precision, smooth operation, and build quality of our Cinder action into a more value-focused barreled action package. Built around the same Cinder action platform, the Core replaces the integral recoil lug with a precision pinned recoil lug, reducing cost without sacrificing the action quality, tight tolerances, or features that define the Cinder.

Each Cinder – Core is paired with a Preferred steel barrel in our Medium Palma contour, creating a versatile platform with enough barrel mass for repeatable precision while remaining practical for hunting and general-purpose rifle builds. You still get the Cinder’s true Remington 700 footprint, 90° bolt lift, DLC-coated bolt, Mini M16 extractor, plunger ejector, and prefit-ready precision in a straightforward package.

The Cinder – Core is designed for shooters who want custom-action quality and Preferred Barrel performance without paying for features they may not need.

CINDER CORE ACTION

The Preferred Rifles Cinder Core was created for shooters who want the precision and performance of a premium custom rifle action without paying for features that may not be necessary for their build.

Built from the same design philosophy as our standard Cinder action, the Cinder Core maintains the tight manufacturing tolerances, smooth operation, prefit barrel compatibility, and Remington 700 footprint that make the Cinder platform so versatile. The primary differences are a precision pinned recoil lug instead of an integral recoil lug and a traditional 90° bolt lift.

CINDER ACTION DESIGN AND FEATURES

Cinder Lightweight Precision Rifle Action

The Cinder was designed to bridge the gap between traditional steel actions and lightweight titanium actions. By intelligently removing material where it isn't needed while maintaining strength where it matters, the Cinder delivers the smooth feel, durability, and consistency of a premium stainless steel action at a weight that belongs in the backcountry.

Whether you're building an ultralight hunting rifle or a do-it-all precision rifle, the Cinder provides the confidence of steel without carrying unnecessary ounces.

Lightweight by Design

Every ounce on the Cinder has a purpose. Strategic lightening cuts reduce weight while preserving the rigidity and durability expected from a premium custom rifle action. The result is a lightweight Remington 700 footprint action that tips the scales at just 22 ounces in short action and 25 ounces in long action.

The stainless steel receiver is paired with a DLC-coated bolt for exceptional corrosion resistance, reduced friction, and years of dependable service in harsh hunting environments.

Built to Perform

A lightweight action is only valuable if it's reliable.

The Cinder features a 90-degree bolt throw that provides necessary scope clearance while keeping bolt lift smooth and efficient. Precision broached bolt raceways produce exceptionally smooth cycling with minimal friction, while spiral bolt flutes reduce bearing surface and help clear dirt, moisture, and debris encountered in the field.

A proven mini M16-style extractor provides positive case control, while the plunger ejector delivers reliable ejection across a wide range of cartridges and conditions. The threaded bolt handle and knob allow future customization, and trigger-specific cocking pieces ensure proper timing with major trigger manufacturers for crisp, consistent performance.

Built Around the Remington 700

The Cinder utilizes a true Remington 700 footprint, making it compatible with one of the largest aftermarket ecosystems available. It fits most Remington 700 stocks, chassis systems, triggers, and bottom metals without proprietary components.

Magazine compatibility includes standard AICS-pattern magazines as well as Wyatt's Extended Boxes, giving builders flexibility whether they're running factory-length cartridges or longer handloads.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Is the Cinder Core compatible with Remington 700 stocks and chassis?
A: Yes. The Cinder Core uses a Remington 700 footprint, giving builders access to one of the largest aftermarket ecosystems in the rifle industry. It is compatible with appropriately configured Remington 700-pattern stocks, chassis systems, triggers, and bottom metal.

Q: What triggers work with the Cinder Core?
A: Cinder Core actions accept Remington 700-pattern triggers, including most of the most popular aftermarket precision rifle triggers.

Q: Is the Cinder Core suitable for long-range shooting?
A: Yes. The Cinder Core was designed as an affordable way to step into a true custom precision rifle platform. Its rigid Medium Palma barrel, precision action, Remington 700 compatibility, and cartridge options make it well-suited for long-range target shooting, hunting, and practical precision rifle applications.

Q: Why choose a Cinder Core instead of building a rifle from individual components?
A: The Cinder Core takes much of the guesswork out of a custom rifle build. The action and barrel are already matched and assembled, giving you a proven foundation while still letting you choose the stock, chassis, trigger, optic, and accessories that fit your intended use.

It's an easy way to get the performance and flexibility of a custom rifle without starting completely from scratch.
