Gun’s American Preferred Barrel Blanks Article

Preferred barrel blanks makes it into Guns America!

We were able to be a part of Riley Baxter's bolt action pistol project build for a recent Guns America article. Featuring one of our barrels for a Black Collar Arms Pork Sword chassis, which is a modular chassis designed for bolt action pistols that is compact and lightweight. The bolt action for the pistol was a stainless Remington 700 action fitted with our prefit R700 barrel and "Bugnut" style barrel nut. The barrel is an 11" 6mm Creedmoor with a 1:7" twist.

Shooting Groups 632 Yards

The first group shot with the pistol produced a .68" group at 100 yards using factory Hornady 108g ELD ammo, an impressive number from barrels twice the length yet we are still seeing great accuracy from one of our short barrels. Riley was able to get consistent sub 3/4 MOA groups with the factory ammo. Velocities were collected at 2339 FPS bare muzzle, and a boost of velocity when suppressed to 2400 FPS, which Riley claims will remain supersonic to 1,100 yards from an 11" barrel. To test the ballistics first hand it was tested at 632 yards with repeatable precision and accuracy.

Watch it in Action! Deer Taken at 500 Yards

Beyond target shooting this pistol found itself in the high mountains of Idaho on a mule deer hunt. Its compact size and lightweight made this ideal for carrying around in the rugged terrain. Rileys dad had a buck tag and had located a great looking Muley. His personal rifle was having firing pin issues so Riley handed over the Pork Sword build. With a steady firing position and an unknowing buck standing at 500 yards his dad let the bullet fly. Riley was on the spotting scope and watched as the bullet trace creates a perfect arc and lands right on the vitals of the deer immediately anchoring the buck causing it to expire in seconds. It was an impressive demonstration of the capabilities of a short barrel rifle cartridge pistol and the results are inarguable.
