6.5 PRC AR-10 Takes on a Mile
See Us Take a 6.5 PRC AR-10 To a Mile
Preferred Barrel Blanks brings you our first demonstration video to show the type of performance we expect from our rifle barrels.
Even when using factory made ammunition we expect great consistency and low velocity spreads, made possible from our extremely tight tolerances in bore diameter. This barrel is installed on a Uintah Precision UPR-10 which is a bolt action AR-10 upper. This particular upper is a prototype proof of concept for using short action magnums which is why we are able to chamber it in 6.5 PRC. In the video we shoot two types of ammunition, hand loaded 120g Nosler ballistic tips that Dylan uses for hunting deer out to distances of 600 yards. The second type of ammunition is Hornady 6.5 PRC match loaded with 147g ELD-M Bullets.
The spiral fluting on our barrel adds tons of style while reducing weight. The barrel has also been threaded 5/8x24 to accept muzzle devices or direct thread silencers like we used in the video.

I am interested in your prefit barrels for my Howa 308 are y’all’s barrels ready to go is this a simple process of unscrewing one and screwing on the other with some no or go Gage . PS give West desert shooter a slap on the back
Hey Shane! Our Howa 1500 prefit barrels have a variable shoulder via the torque nut that is included with the purchase of a new barrel from us. As you said, you simply have to take your existing barrel off, spin the nut down on the barrel, turn the barrel into the receiver until properly headspaced, and then torque the nut to 35-40 ft/lbs.
Hey while your doing proof of concept flute the bolt to match the barrel! You can do mine also please. Thanks.
Just like the two emails where you’ve asked the same question, that we’ve already responded to, we do not offer UPR10 bolt fluting services here. We are a quality-focused barrel manufacturing facility. Uintah Precision purchases many barrels from us for their uppers, but we don’t offer further customization of their firearms. I would suggest asking them directly for any other alteration to their gun.
