6mm Shootout! Dasher vs Lapua vs Creedmoor Prefit Barrels
We have a couple of introductions here today folks. Preferred sells barrel blanks, contoured blanks and prefit barrels for a wide array of rifle actions. To showcase the capabilities of our prefit barrels, we put three rifles head to head in our 6mm shootout video series!
The rifles used for this comparison include the Howa 1500 chambered in 6mm Creedmoor, Ruger American with the 6mmx47 Lapua, and Tikka T3x hosting the 6mm Dasher Norma. We chose these cartridges based on their strong following for competitive use. Using the same 105g Berger projectiles and H4350 powder to get a fair comparison for each cartridge design.
Each rifle has a 24" barrel with a 1:8" twist rate with the same straight taper .810" diameter and threaded muzzles. We put a different fluting on each barrel which includes Hexagon, Snakeskin, and Spiral Barbed Wire. We ran them side by side at 710 yards for groups, then out to 900 and 1,375 yards to see how they compare, see the comparison firsthand in our latest YouTube video on Preferred Barrels channel.
